Alicia Britton

Alicia Britton is our church's first sending missionary! She left in February to begin a year-long "missions internship" under Pastor Greg Miller, the pastor that Life Change Church goes through for the adult and youth mission trips.
Currently, Alicia is studying Spanish while working at a school and tutoring children in English. She has also started working at one of the government orphanages.
Below you can read a weekly blog from Alicia that tells what she has been up to, what God is doing in her life and ministry, and any prayer requests she may have!

Going along with last week's blog, amongst the presidential debates and the daunting news and heading into the holidays, it is certainly easy for us to feel uneasy.
I am no stranger to uneasiness... choosing to intern at my church rather than going to school made me uneasy. Leaving my job to pursue missions made me feel uneasy. &...
While there are quite a few things floating in my head right now, you could say that the “state of our world” has been occupying my mind more than usual this week.
My daily train of thought goes something like this: processing the illiteracy and poverty I am surrounded by here in Guatemala; remembering my head-on-collision with...
Hi everybody!
This is a very busy week, but I wanted to send you a photo update so you can see what I've been up to! Have a great week!
Celebrating Guatemalan Independence Day with my favorite girls! About to be in one of the many parades!
Watching the crazy
It seems a theme for me this year has been God's goodness. I am thankful to say I see it frequently, though I am also aware that by grace, God opens my eyes to His goodness; it has always been there even when I haven't thought so.
I am currently reading through the Old Testament, and it is frequently said that so-and-so “found grace in God...
This week was a fun one, as you can see...
Some kids from La Lina, where I recently started an English class, OBVIOUSLY a fun bunch! ;)

Wonderful family and friends,
Last week, I shared that I am fighting through some discouragements, frustrations, and confusion. In all honesty, I am still in that place, but I am trying to re-direct my focus.
I am finding that, in these moments it is much better to reflect on my God and who I know He is rather than my unstable ...
This is kind of a funny one... recently, I was listening to some music I used to listen to in high school. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that, even then, when my actions were pretty far from Christ, there was truth being sung over my life.
One song said it this way: “I can't explain or understand, I just love You.”
I ...
Hello, wonderful friends!
I hope that everyone has had a great week so far.
A couple of quick updates: the students at school and at the daycare are doing well; they are crazy, but they are learning! I got to go with some “gringo” friends (haha!) to their youth group on Sunday and see their work there... so cool! I had a non-...
Hola from Guatemala!
The month of July has definitely been a great one! Between new opportunities and passion, our youth mission team, and another awesome team from Minnesota, I feel so refreshed and ready to give my all to what God has called me to here in Guatemala.
I have had some great serving opportunities this month, from helping to ...
Greetings, everyone!
Thank you so much for praying for and sending the youth mission team down this year. They were such a blessing, not only for me, but for the people of Guatemala as well. There were several moments where I literally marveled at the passion, wisdom, and creativity that the Holy Spirit has breathed into the students and leaders.
...
Hi, everyone!
I am so excited because Wednesday, the youth mission team will be here! I believe that a mission trip can literally change your life, and so I would like to share a personal testimony from my first mission trip, which, crazy enough, was here in Guatemala back in 2008.

The 2008 Mission Team (Can you spot me?!)
I had just ...
I got to spend my weekend in Jurassic Park!
What? These photos don't remind anyone else of Jurassic Park? Okay... maybe it's just me.
Anyway, from Friday to Monday, I got to stay with Sister Reina (a wonderful woman whose husband passed away a couple of weeks ago). I wish I could express how relaxing that time was: ...
First of all, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped with craft supplies. The kids are enjoying it so far!

Eddy learning his colors in English by making flashcards!

One of the most fun-filled things from this week was getting to go up to Lampacoy. (Those of you who have been to Guatemala might remember this village!) Foremost, it...
Hola, mis amigos y amigas!

This is my "I'm baaaaack!" face!
I have made it back to Guatemala and am getting back into the swing of things!
My time home was wonderful! My favorite thing was that I got to visit several Encounter groups. I felt so privileged to connect with the church body on a more personal level and get to ...
Last week was a bit chaotic between wrapping up things with my students at the school, starting and ending a week at a brand new ministry, trying to get things in order for when I'm home, making lists of everything I need, seeing friends, packing, and all the emotions and anticipation that comes with uprooting for a while—whew! I was feeling ...
