- Every now and again, we come across a really neat story that we just have to share. This happened a few weeks ago at our Forest Park Covenant Personal Care Pantry: Margaret has been a faithful volunteer in that pantry and they have it set up on nights when they are teaching our classes also so there is a lot of things happening there on Thursday evenings. When our neighbors in need come to that church, they are greeted by smiling volunteers with a warm and inviting atmosphere. They are all asked if they would like prayer and they are offered a New Testament Bible if they would like. There are coffee and cookies available and volunteers around if someone needs a listening ear. Margaret told me, “I have had many pleasures in life but the most precious to me is leading a soul to Christ. I had this pleasure recently at our Personal Care Pantry where I serve on Thursday evenings. We packed bags for a neighbor in need and asked if we might pray with/for her. She was very pleased to have been asked and when I asked if I could pray for something that was on her heart she told me of her struggles in life with health issues, house issues and financial issues. I commented that it sounds like you need the Lord in your life and she quickly replied that I have given up on Him. I asked her if we could go in a private room and talk about what she was feeling and she welcomed the opportunity. I began to tell her how wonderful our Lord is and that He never leaves us, but sometimes because of our troubles, we can’t see or feel Him. We both began crying. I held her hands and began to pray…then…right there, holding hands on our knees…she prayed for salvation. By the time we were finished talking and praying, she was bubbling over with Joy and had a sparkle in her eye…me too!” What a great Love Story and the reason why we try so hard doing the ministry work that we do…bringing lost souls to our Lord and Savior! We are blessed to serve an awesome God.
